MEGATHREAD: RELATIONSHIP COACH
Hello r/RomanceBooks! You said you’d like more mega threads and I’m here to deliver!
This megathread is going to be about: RELATIONSHIP COACH
What is the RELATIONSHIP COACH trope? We have one character who is inexperienced or having difficulty with their romantic relationships. The other character is experienced with sex or relationships and they agree to start educational lessons.
This could be non-sexual (think Cyrano de Bergerac) or very sexual (let's have sex so I can get rid of my V-card and gain confidence).
Here is a thread discussing the concept of the Relationship Coach.
Here’s how this works.
- Drop a comment down below with your recommended book(s).
- What’s the subgenre? What’re the pairing? Is it Contemporary Romance or Historical Romance or...? MF, MM, FF...?
- Explain how it fits the trope. Is one character looking to lose their virginity to get it over with? Was one character told they were bad at sex? Or maybe they just lack confidence and turn to an experienced friend.
- Tell is why you love the book. “Well written” doesn’t count: let’s just assume they all are. Things like “smoking hot” and “character growth” and “amazing world building” are all acceptable.
- What other tropes does the book have? Enemies to lovers? Slow burn?
- Character archetypes! Is the MMC a mountain man? Or a single dad? Is she a doctor or a librarian?
So tell us, what’s your favorite RELATIONSHIP COACH romance?
