So damn jealous of this, in Sweden you get like 6-7 months of riding where maybe 3 months is warmer and out of those summer months may be a combined 30-40 days are great.

Come to LA - I went riding in December and January in a t-shirt and my jacket. It’s gonna be 68 degrees here today and it was 72 degrees last weekend.

central CA here, windy today, but next week's gonna be nice, mid/high 60s

One of my favorite rides ever was picking up my bike in Roseville, and then riding it back to LA via 80 -> 680 -> 101

I wish I could go with or without motorcycle!:)

No wind for you? This wind is insane this week. Gusts up to 70mph.

Haven't noticed anything in DTLA, no. I got an Alexa warning about a high wind advisory, but didn't hear or feel it at all. And all's calm right now.

Nice, my commute goes through the Cojon Pass so lots of winds kick up. And some strong winds at that.

Beauty of California riding. Get yourself some heated gear and extend your season if possible.

The bags on your buddy’s bike look low. Do they scrape in corners?

AutisticGuitarist•

Kinda looks like those old cars with the streamlined fenders

kmkmrod•

That’s Indian’s styling.

You'll be surprised how low they can go. My exhaust is about that low and I've only ever scraped something on the ground once, and it was my boot since I stuck it out a bit too far in the turn.

I did not notice him scraping. We took a ride in the twisties (my first) and I don’t think he got it over enough.

Doesn't matter if you only ride straight

What’s the fun in that?

How is that dude (the one in front, the heavy stocky built dude) making a turn with that amount of things attached on a cruiser?

Does not seem to have enough ground clearance to make a non-wide turn without scraping those on the bottom.

EDIT: I am not ripping that dude. I just curious on how do they do it on such a very low ground clearance.

It's probably a little bit higher than it looks. Also, I know many of those super low show bikes have a way to raise their rear suspension when you're actually driving. See around 4:10 on this video, and compare it to the same bike when it's on its center stand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEU_AARemCc

My camera was about 4’ above my head. Could just be making it look lower than it is. This is a very stock Indian Classic (or vintage) I think it is called. Plenty of ground clearance.

Is that pavement in the second half as bad as it looks?

2
ablobychetta•

That stuff isnt too bad to ride on but feels a little funny getting pulled into the grooves.

3
xorbeSpeed Triple 1200, Speed Twin 1200, CBR650R, N650•

It looks like it's prepped for paving

3
donnydude1269•

It can be pretty bad on smaller bikes. The big bikes probably soak up a bit more with bigger tires and softer ride so it’s probably fine

3
dhotrodbOP•

Yeah it was pretty bad. It did tend to grab and want to pull you into the grooves. Just prepping for repaving. I’m not going to lie it freaked me out because I have never rode on that before. I was worried about gravel but there was none.

I’ll ride in rain, cold, mild snow, blazing heat, whatever. But not wind. Fuck wind.

2
dhotrodbOP•

Gusts up to 70mph. No thanks

That Indian looks lowered

He is a big dude. That could be it, I am unsure of what he has done to his bike but he is usually a stay stock kind of dude.
