I've built an app that replaces mouse/touchpad
Hey there folks! ๐
Cursorly is a touch-free desktop app that replaces physical hardware such as mouse or touchpad. It helps you fight and prevent repetitive strain injuries by providing an alternative way to use your cursor.
The best bit about it is that it doesn't force you to sit at your desk or be physically close to it. You can sit a few meters away in a comfy chair or a couch, you can stand or you can lay down, it will work because it uses camera to recognize gestures and as as long as your hands are visible, you are all set! This makes it very ergonomic because it will adapt to you, not the other way around.
You can check out a demo video on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0f19Jb9Bf0 It's the best way to understand how it works and see it in action.
Cursorly is brand new and I would like to invite everyone to try it out. I'd really appreciate any feedback from the community.
How does it help? As said, it's touch-free which means that you don't need to interact with any physical object. This helps your muscles relax and reduces the strain on your body. Scrolling is easy as just showing three fingers to the camera.
Some time ago I suffered from an elbow injury from mouse overuse and while in physical therapy I started thinking of different ways how can I use my computer. I was annoyed that even with so much technological advancement we are still using a mouse which is a decades old device. We can definitely do better and this is why Cursorly uses latest machine learning algorithms to understand hand gestures which are then translated to actions. It's a completely different way of interaction and you only need a computer camera to get started.
