Had to sell my Gen 2 Tacoma after my wife and I had our 2nd kid. Kept going back and forth on whether I wanted to buy a current gen Tundra but patiently waited for the redesign. No regrets!

Specs – Limited Crew Max, 6.5ft Bed, TRD OR Package, JBL Sound, Spray on Bedliner

Early congrats on the new rig! I was able to put a couple hundred miles on mine already and love it.

Which one did you get?

I’ll post a pic tomorrow I’m getting it tomorrow evening

It’s a black SR5 crew max. Nothing to fancy but I’m excited non the less

Nice man. The SR5's are great rigs.

Nice truck! The spray-on liner is applied to the composite bed? Is it mainly for additional traction underfoot?

4
mtinezOP•

You got it. Directly applied to the composite bed for better traction.

Not sure why people are giving you such grief, but I hope you love your truck and it treats you well.

Appreciate it buddy. It's Reddit, there's always someone who has a bone to pick lol.

Waiting 2 years? The 2022 model was literally just revealed last summer...

Yup. Sold my Tacoma in 2019 in anticipation that Toyota would come around and do a refresh of the Tundra given its longer track record on that design.

Purchased a used Silverado in cash to hold me over. Didn't want to drop close to 60K on a new rig only for it to be redesigned soon after.

I don't disagree with you. As a matter of fact, I bought my 2015 Tacoma just as the 3rd Gen 2016 Tacoma was coming out. I liked the reliability of the 2015 since it was proven.

Taking a gamble this time around on buying a new platform but I also prefer the design/look of the new Tundra over the old. Different strokes for different folks.

Correct me if I'm wrong - there was never any official release from Toyota, nor was there any reveal prior to 2021 with any info on the new Tundra.

Going off of speculation is not a way to plan a purchase - until official announcements are made / order forms put out to the public, then why would you sell a car for an un-released vehicle with ZERO release date...

Look at my original comment. That Tacoma was getting sold REGARDLESS due to a 2nd kid. I opted to buy a used full size to hold me over and gave Toyota time to figure out what they were doing with the Tundra design.

Gamble worked out either way, I got the Tundra I wanted, made 7K profit off my used Silverado I bought previously.

Yah I get that part, your post title makes no sense - made it sound like you ordered it 2 years ago and waited that whole time, when in reality the truck was literally just revealed last year, and deliveries just started this year…

I have been awaiting over two years myself. I mean you may not know what is going on around you but people have been literally talking about the redesign for years....

https://www.motortrend.com/news/toyota-tundra-new-redesign-2021-2022/

I mean none of this is a secret. Everyone was expecting a redesign for the past few years. Toyota reps even spoke of it. What we were waiting for was to see what it was, what it looked like, what the engines would be, what the cabin would look like, if it has some kind of composite bed.

I should be totally in awe that you do not understand this but I am not. :(

Yes I know people have been waiting for the redesign, I am not stupid. However, the title of the post makes it sound like OP has been waiting for 2 years for the DELIVERY of his vehicle, when that is physically not possible.

I think it is pretty obvious THAT is what my comment was about, but I guess it doesn't surprise me that it wasn't obvious to you... :(

Even if that is true why does that matter?

No, I know what it was about, it was about you. People were waiting for the redesign for a couple of years. I also do not think you could pre-order it two years ago so I read between the lines.....

How does the new sound system sound? My 15 Limited and 18 Platinum were complete shit. It was the first upgrade on my 18.

2
mtinezOP•

I think the system sounds good. I'm not a huge audio guy though, never found a ton of value in upgrading the sound systems in any of my cars. Stock has treated me well. It's nice to have a system with a sub though with this JBL package.

I’m in the same boat second car seat in my Tacoma trd off road is tight, needed to upgrade and pulled the trigger on a 1794. Waiting until the end of the month for it to arrive.

1
mtinezOP•

For sure. I loved my Tacoma until the day I had to put in a 2nd car seat in it. Full size is way better. Enjoy your new truck!

Tough. What package you get?

1
mtinezOP•

Limited CrewMax w/ TRD OR Package, JBL Audio Package and Spray on bedliner.

Do the SR5s not get heated seats?

1
mtinezOP•

Not sure. I have the limited which includes vented and heated seats.

Congratulations man, I just put my order in for the exact one you have..I saw the silver in person on a double cab and was immediately sold on the color. Now the waiting game commences..

1
mtinezOP•

Nice! Enjoy your new truck when it gets to you. I've always liked the silver that Toyota applies on their cars. I had a Tacoma in silver and my wife's Highlander is also in a silver.
