News special in Israel tonight (15 Feb 22)

There will be a special news magazine show on “Simon” tonight (15 Feb 22) in Israel on Reshet13.

Lev Leviev’s daughter has already announced ahead of the show about the “Tinder Swindler” that the family is taking legal action against him for using their name and for faking like he was employed by the company, etc.

If the show gets uploaded to the website, I doubt they will have English subtitles, but if so, I will add the video or any clips when they are available. I’m busy tonight and so will miss the live airing of it, but I’ll do my best to get the info and translate to share here.

The show is on now (I took some screenshots but have to figure out how to add them here) and I was able to watch a bit of it. I have to leave home this evening, but the whole special should be up on Reshet13’s website tomorrow. I will share the link. I don’t know if there will be English subtitles. If not, I’ll do my best to summarize. What I can share from what I saw was amazing… in a bad way. They interviewed a Rabbi in Ukraine who took “Simon” in as a favor to “Simon’s” father (“help my son,” he asked), and the man complied to help the Rabbi of El Al airlines (Israel’s national airline). “Simon” stole from the man’s home, including ALL of the wife’s gold jewelry! He then stole from companies in Bulgaria. Before the break, they showed a clip of an interview with a man obscured who said that “Simon” got it all from his father (meaning that he got help with schemes, getting out of trouble, and his financial start) from his crook father (the former head Rabbi of El Al airlines)! His poor mother was a “gannenet,” she worked in a preschool, likely making peanuts and working hard to take care of kids. I see why she doesn’t want anything to do with him. Gotta go, but I’ll add more tomorrow!

Thank you so much. I feel like this deserves its own thread.

Is it the one that starts with an interview with him? Just started a keshet 14 vod where he meets her in an Airbnb in Neve Tsedek and claims it’s his house

I missed the beginning last night. I had plans to go out and I only saw about 10 minutes while getting dressed. I posted to link to the show in another comment. I’ll watch and translate as soon as I can (busy week).

Yes, it was an Air BnB Aimon claimed to be his as the son of Lev Leviev. This interview they showed at the beginning took place on March 2021 after he was released from prison. Still at it!

I love how much the girl interviewing pushes him

What a piece of shit this guy is. Sooner or later he’s going to meet his fate. He can’t get away with this forever. One day he’ll screw someone over who’s too powerful to be messed with.

Translation Part 1:*Note: I'm watching and jotting down notes quickly between meetings. I'm not translating word-for-word, and some things I will summarize. I'll use quotes when I can, but they won't be exact translations. I'm just not that fast and I'm super busy. But I promised to provide for the followers, so here's the first part (just about the first 10 minutes of the program).

-The scene starts off with an interview from March 2021 that the reporter did with "Simon" (AKA his birth name of Shimon Hayut). The female reporter tours the beautiful penthouse apartment with him and notes that it looks like no one really lives there. A few photos of Simon are staged around the place, but it looks like a showplace. An easy AirBnB search shows the apartment's listing. A voice over of a call from the reporter to the owner of the property reveals that it is, indeed, an AirBnB rental, rented by "Simon Leviev." Owner was told by "Simon" that he was Lev Leviev's son, and that's why he rented it to him. So in March 2021, after being released early from prison due to COVID concerns, he was still telling this damn lie.

-Who is "Simon Leviev?" Born Shimon Hayut, he grew up in a neighborhood in B'nei Brak, adjacent to Tel Aviv, which is one of the poorest in all of Israel. (I'm Israeli and I'll add color commentary here from time to time. This area is 100% Haredi ultra-Orthodox Jewish. Families have multiple children and the education is all on Talmud, not even Torah. I can attest that the area is a "shithole" to anyone else on the outside looking in.) His mother worked in a kindergarten and his father became the Rabbi of El Al airlines (Israel's national airline). Shimon/"Simon" (I'll use both interchangeably because he did legally change his name to Simon Leviev) says pointedly that he "didn't learn anything." He was self taught in language, business (basic commerce), etc. Again, this is true because Haredim don't learn secular things-- English language, math, science, business... they really are in their own little bubble (that's a part of the problem, but I have my own opinions on religion and Orthodoxy). This explains to you all why his English is horrible. He taught himself (and this is after not growing up watching tv at all, listening to secular music, no English-language books, etc.).

-At age 15, he was sent to New York to work because of issues at home and in his life (they aren't elaborated upon). He lived with a family and while on vacation in Florida, Shimon stole their credit card and then he went a-shopping! He racked up $42,000 USD in just three days, shopping on 5th Avenue and purchased a flight from NYC back to Tel Aviv.

-When back in Israel, Shimon received a check for 2,500 shek (NIS). He added two zeros to the check, making it 250,000 NIS. that was about $80,000 USD then. This fool bought a damn Porshe with the money! (Cars are crazy expensive here; a regular Toyota or Mazda costs over 100,000 NIS, so he must have bought a used Porshe.) It is not said why he received the 2,500 shek or from whom. The reporter asked Simon about this and he admitted to it and said that he was young and he "sinned." "I'm sorry," he added, defiantly. The reporter pointed out that he ran away from this crime (responsibility, punishment). He admitted to that, too, and said he was just a kid.

-In 2011, Shimon left Israel with a fake passport to Jordan. His father, Rabbi Hayut, was then working at Ben Gurion Airport (main International airport in Israel). Unclear if father was Rabbi of El Al at that time. Then the story jumps to an interview with Rabbi Hillel Cohen, a Rabbi in Kiev, Ukraine. At some point, Rabbi Hayut (Shimon/Simon's father) went to Kiev. Rabbi Cohen says to the reporter, "I am here on behalf of hundreds of victims. 99% are unwilling to be exposed." Rabbi Hayut asked Rabbi Cohen to take in Shimon. (Haredi Jews don't rat out other Haredi or ultra-Orthodox Jews. Look up the case of MK Litzman (of our parliament) and the Malka Leifer Affair for some serious crazy reading that will make your head spin. Leifer was a school principal in Australia at an Orthodox girls' school, and she is accused of molesting many girls. She moved to Israel and was shielded by Litzman, all because these dirty birds gotta stick together. Barf.)

-Rabbi Choen becomes adamant and I love this man. He seems pretty stand up, and I am weary of most ultra-Orthodox Jews because I know what they teach about religion and too many believe that crimes are no big deal if committed against "the goyim" (non-Jews). (Note that liberal, Reform, and Conservative Jews are considered bad and don't count to many of them, either, and are OK being marks. I'm just stating the facts as I know and live them, so don't get mad at me for explaining.) Anyway, Rabbi Cohen refuses to use the name "Simon Leviev." He says it's fake and his real name is Shimon Hayut (but he did legally change his name in Israel). Rabbi Cohen says, "Let's do justice. Righting history. He (Shimon) stung and stung." Rabbi Cohen also refuses to call Rabbi Hayut, Shimon's father, "Rabbi." He won't give the senior crook any respect.

-"Do me a favor; my son is in distress," Rabbi Hayut told Rabbi Cohen. "I told him, 'happily." Rabbi Cohen says that Hayut is very kind, very fascinating, very charismatic. Shimon told him that he was a pilot and was in shidduch (a "match;" matchmaking by others where they set up a young man and young woman to be married, and then they meet and then the families meet to see if it will work out for a marriage very soon. There is no dating.). Shimon said that the shidduch got called off and "all kinds of stories. So you believe him in an unparalled way."

-Rabbi Cohen continues with a crazy story: "He lived in a luxurious hotel. Why?! I gave him an open home. We (Rabbi Cohen and his family) went to Israel for a month and I gave him the keys (to the house). I told him, "you are my guest." (Remember, this is all a favor to Rabbi Hayut, Shimon's father, who didn't explain to Rabbi Cohen exactly why Shimon needed help and a place to stay.) Rabbi Cohen then states, "A month later, I got a message from Rabbi Bleich-- 'What are you doing? Are you crazy?! Who did you give the house?!' Turns out that a member of the community was by the fire station and saw a girl arrive (to his house). Shimon hugged the girl (physical touch between Orthodox Jewish males and females is strictly forbidden, especially in public, even between husband and wife) next to the synagogue! Then we saw a photo of her (not Haredi, not even Jewish = big no-no). [There were] pictures of him (them) at my home. She showed me a check for 40,000 shekel (NIS), which is like $10,000 USD! (I don't understand the "she showed me a check" part.) The man picked up the check and gave them to the same girl. It turns out that he borrowed money from her and in return, he gave my check." (I don't understand that part, either, but it's a verbatim translation.)

-Rabbi Cohen continues, "I ran and cancelled the checks. At first, I did not believe that he did it. I didn't file a complaint. I said that my checkbook had been stolen. Today, I am sorry. I couldn't believe I was in this experience, this movie."

That's all I have time for now. That was just the first 10 minutes; 30 more to go!I'll do my best to continue as soon as I have the time. I hope you all liked this; let me know if I should continue.

I had mentioned here before that Simon sounded uneducated and unsophisticated for a diamond prince. People here got mad because we were pointing out that his English was terrible. This is nothing against people who can’t speak English perfectly. It’s just another clue that he didn’t have the education of a billionaire’s son. His English is ok for a poor person who taught themselves English, which is not easy of course, but heirs usually have the best of the best education and that should have been a clue that this man was not who he said he was. Beyond having a thick accent or not speaking eloquently (not everyone can be), the guy’s vocabulary was pretty limited. He spoke in platitudes and didn’t say anything intelligent or complex. That’s not a business man who handles a fortune.

This was clearly not someone who had a good education like a billionaire’s season. His English gave his whole background away. If these women had paid more attention he probably didn’t even have good etiquette or the table manners of a wealthy guy. It’s the little things that make you notice he’s a liar and he’s out of place. Like on The Great Gatsby when Daisy’s husband immediately picks up that Gatsby is not who he says he is and he doesn’t come from old money because he didn’t talk like an “old money” kind of guy. Little behaviors and things here and there gave him away. Same with Simon. Wealthy people have a totally different demeanor and they sound educated, more sophisticated. Simon is riffraff. Pure and simple.

There’s a yacht broker that he attempts to swindle and he called it! He said Simon flips out and they played his voice note. The broker obviously deals with the wealthiest of clients and knows that while they’re demanding and curt they definitely don’t act like Simon did. It’s funny if you haven’t watched bc the broker, then plays along and tells Simon to go to Barcelona to embark on (that he didn’t hadn’t paid for) and Simon goes to Barcelona but there’s no yacht 🤣🤣

So the guy basically got rich writing fake checks. Crazy that we are in 2022 and banks still have this loophole that can be so easily exploited.

As promised, here is the link to the Israeli show that aired last night about this schmuck: Tindler Swindler Still Talking on Reshet13 (Israel). Do not use an ad blocker on the site. I’m crazy busy this week with work and so don’t know when I will be able to watch it all and to translate, but I will do my best for you all! Edit to add: There are ads (2) that play at the beginning. The show is 47 minutes long. There are some parts in English that I briefly saw.

wait, so his father is part of the scam?

I don’t know yet. I only saw about 10 minutes of the show. There was a quick preview before a commercial break where a man says to look at his father. I’ll update you after I have a chance to watch it all and translate.

Thanks for your effort! This is very interesting.

I found the video, but i can't download it off the Israeli page. all the video downloader extensions are not working.

FYI... one needs a local israeli IP for the page to load. (VPN)

I was thinking ... add it to youtube, make it private (link based) had have yr translate it for us.

I_laughed_and_ran•

if anyone is better at this than me... let's arrange something :)

1
pollypocketrocket4OP•

Let’s not do all that. I’ll translate and summarize as best I can when I can, but I’m not in favor of doing the most to download and share someone else’s content t like that. Plus, you’re asking a bit much of me to do so.

1
pollypocketrocket4OP•

No, you can’t download the video; stream only. Even though I’m in Israel, I won’t download and share someone else’s video content, even with a private link. That’s not OK. I’ll just do my best to summarize the show when I can finish.

More, but I was only able to see less than 10 minutes of the show. Plans this evening and not at home now. I’ll watch tomorrow and share what I can (long days at work on a big project).
