My opinions on season 3

SpoilerSeason 3

Hi ! I just finished watching the 3 seasons of the show and now I don't know what to do with my life lol but here are some of my opinions on the show. Some are popular, others might be unpopular :

I found Jean's storyline to be quite boring this season. I don't usually care for pregnancy storylines, and this one was no different. I get that the whole point was to talk about the issue of older women being pregnant, but personally it just didn't interest me as much as her previous storylines. Although, I have to say, I'm curious to see who the father of the baby is, and how it will affect her relationship with Jakob (who I love).

Maeve had every right to call social services on her mum (who btw reminds me of Courtney Love, physically and personality wise). I get that Erin would be horrified to lose her child but that's totally on her, and blaming Maeve for it when she was the one who abandoned her because of her drug problem is not right. I felt really bad for Maeve, she always felt awful for calling social services and her mum was acting like a child, refusing to take responsibility. She sweared on Maeve's and Elsie's life that she wasn't using anymore and it turned out she lied.

The whole "will they/won't they" going on between Maeve and Otis is starting to get old and annoying. It reminds me of Ross and Rachel in Friends, but even they got together in s2. Maeve and Otis only kissed for the first time in s3 and never got to be a couple yet.

Otis didn't do anything wrong with Ruby regarding the "I love you" issue. I saw some people saying that he was an asshole for breaking her heart but I'm glad he didn't lie about his feelings. I feel bad for Ruby and Otis did too, but this wasn't anyone's fault and I actually think Otis handled it quite well (except for the "that's nice" part).

I was completely disappointed with Eric this season. If he wanted to break up with Adam then fine, but cheating on him was so unnecessary. I don't even understand, they had proclamed their love for each other only 2 episodes before and everything was going fine between them. They had some issues (Adam getting angry, having sex) but they were almost all resolved immediatly, and Adam made huge efforts to make their relationship work, it's a shame Eric failed to see that. It's clear that while Adam truly loved Eric, he on the other hand definitly didn't love him as much. His feelings are valid and he shouldn't be in a relationship in which he doesn't feel comfortable (even though he knew very well what he was getting into) but cheating on Adam was cruel and he voluntarily hurt him. And he doesn't even regret it and shows no emotion during (and after) the breakup. What breaks my heart even more is that Adam got cheated on and wasn't even the one to do the breakup, he was willing to forget about the kiss and fix things because he didn't want to lose Eric. I loved their relationship and I'm curious wether they'll get back together or not.

Adam had an amazing character development and his arc reminds me of Steve Harrington's in Stranger Things. They both start as unlikeable bullies and end up as fan favourites because of their amazing journey. His character is at first like Monty in 13 Reasons Why : they both had internalized homophobia due to their father's mistreatment and were violent bullies. However, Adam never did anything irredeemable and he was able to be redeemed, unlike Monty. He had people who cared about him and worked really hard to be a better person, a better boyfriend and a better student. I agree that the "bully to lover" trope can be toxic but in this case I believe that Adam truly changed and made Eric feel loved. He came out to the whole school (and his dad) to be with him and was never ashamed of him once they got together. He was loving and never tried to change Eric. Anyway I freaking love Adam, he's amazing and I hope the writers keep making him wholesome in s4.

Aimee is amazing too, her relationship with Steve was probably the purest and healthiest in the entire show. She litteraly has zero unlikeable personality traits and is just a positive and innocent character. I hope she continues to learn to overcome her trauma in s4, she deserves the world.

I really hope Adam and Rahim don't get together. I can see it coming but I personally prefer them as friends, it would just be weird if Eric's two ex lovers became a couple. Two LGBT guys can be friends without having a romantic relationship.

Michael Groff became more likeable but I just won't believe he's really trying to improve until he reconciles with his son. All he cared about was Maureen and barely mentioned Adam.

I'm surprised none of the parents took action against Hope. She was litteraly bullying her students and humiliating them and didn't face any consequences from any parents. It also wasn't satisfying that they didn't expose her with the voice record in front of the whole school when they had the opportunity.

Rant's over, let me know what you guys think !
