Single player tips?

So I'm trying to learn the game and have some rp experience solo but theres some problems a lot of missions you need to know very specific things like on my first mission I was sent to an alien ruin deep in the ocean where a gravity trap killed me and 2 crew and injuring another one making her spaz out and swim blindly into the darkness where she ran out of air at this point the ship is flooding and my cap and engineer both die because whenever I try to pilot its like the radar fcks me over and were taking on water. I have mods where I start out with 6 crew members and a cheap ship that has a lot of stuff I don't know how to do like botany or I can't find sonar stuff but it's definitely worth it. Any tips help pls lol
