Playing Through Every Choices Book, In Order (Part 22: The Elementalists, Book 1)

SpoilerThe Elementalists

Hey! Today, we get sucked through a mirror and somehow our whole life becomes magically better (we also discover our long-lost twin, whose hair is Dumbledore-gray!)

Next time, we take a trip with a few other students from our college to an island called La Huerta. It'll be a fun vacation...right?

(Note: Please see my Desire and Decorum 1 review for why I'm not doing Elementalists 2 yet!)

Review:

I love Harry Potter, and with this book being a knockoff version of Harry Potter, of course I was going to love it! The LI’s are amazing, but there is a crown jewel among them, and that is Beckett. I could gush about him for this whole review, but suffice to say, I fucking love him so, so much. Griffin is nice too, I suppose. I love that this book has the option to choose your sexuality at the beginning. That’s something that should be in every book. In fact, this book is the only GOC book to have this option, since The Royal Masquerade, which also has this option, is genderlocked. (At least I think it has that option? Correct me if I'm wrong!) I’m a Metal-att, by the way. What’s yours? I chose the dog thing as my familiar, and I love it so much. I named it “Royal”. The spells are all varied and fun to use, though I wish so many of them weren’t locked behind diamonds. Atlas is a great character, and a fun mid-book twist. Raife is an alright villain. He’s defeated too quickly for my liking. I mean, Voldemort took a whole 7 books to be killed, and 8 horcruxes had to be destroyed beforehand. How long does it take to kill Raife? One chapter. The worldbuilding is fantastically done in this series. The music is also amazing, I love the main theme! Zeph being canon ace rep is also really cool! Like I said in my Distant Shores review, there’s absolutely no excuse for every book not having at least two POC and LGBTQ+ characters, and well-written ones at that. Dean Goeffe was kind of weird as a twist traitor, but hey, whatever works, works. Professor Swan is also freaking awesome! All in all, a wonderful book, and I can’t wait to play through the second one!
