Review:
It’s so astounding to me that a book that came this early in the history of the app was this good! Let me start with the LI’s: they’re all fantastic. All 4 are drastically different, and each of their routes feels so unique from the others. All the other characters are great as well! The cast was really well-done in this book - every character feels unique, important, and fleshed out. The friendship score is a great mechanic, and I thoroughly enjoyed having everyone support me in the final two chapters because I became true friends with them. La Huerta is such a fun place to explore. The island is genuinely so mysterious and dangerous, which is only compounded by the mysterious clues and hints of sabotage and supernatural things everywhere. The pacing is very well done - not a single chapter felt like filler! I guess the one thing I’d have to critique is, despite being a GOC book, the M/C felt very female-coded to me. Diego being your GBF, Michelle getting jealous of you in Chapter 1, the way you’re described in Jake/Sean’s sex scenes, all are things that make me feel like M/C is coded as a woman. That’s a problem that a lot of GOC books have, so I’m not going to be too harsh on this one, especially considering how early on it came. The artstyle is freaking fantastic too! I love this book so much.
