Help with Translating Obelisk in Piazza del Popolo

I'm going to Rome in a few days, and will need to be able to translate this:

IMP · CAESAR · DIVI · F
AVGVSTVS
PONTIFEX · MAXIMVS
IMP · XII · COS · XI · TRIB · POT · XIV
AEGVPTO · IN · POTESTATEM
POPVLI · ROMANI · REDACTA
SOLI · DONUM · DEDIT

IMP[erator] · CAESAR · DIVI · F[ilius]
AVGVSTVS
PONTIFEX · MAXIMVS
IMP[erator?] · XII · CO[n]S[ul] · XI · TRIB[unicia] · POT[estas] · XIV
AEGVPTO · IN · POTESTATEM
POPVLI · ROMANI · REDACTA
SOLI · DONUM · DEDIT

Imperator Augustus Caesar,

son of the god [Caesar], Pontifex Maximus for the 11th time,

the Egyptians having been subjected to the Roman People,

entitled to represent the people* for the 14th time,

gave this gift to the Son.

*“Tribunicia Potestas” : offered all powers without holding office; right or legitimacy to authority

Do I have the abbreviations right? Close? The order of the clauses in my translation isn't ideal, but I'd like to get it as close to literal and line for line before I make a more "englishly" translation.

Yeah, I'm not in middle school. Though I would consider myself quite precocious if I started posting on reddit when I was 9. (I've been here for 3 years, check my profile. :-) )

He is pontifex maximus, imperator for the 12th time, in his 11th consulship, with tribunal power for the 14th

Thanks. What do you do with these lines:

AEGVPTO · IN · POTESTATEM

POPVLI · ROMANI · REDACTA

…[with/by] Egypt having been reduced into the power of the Roman People, he gave this gift to the sun.

The ablative 'Aegypto' ('Aegyptus'), actually feminine, is modified by the perfect passive participle 'redacta'. You missed 'potestatem', but I think your rendering of 'redacta' as 'subjected to' makes for better English. The order have clauses seems good to me, except that English wants us to use a present participle instead of a passive.

Here was my problem. My dictionary lists it as masculine. Thank you!

I was there last year. Did you have Chris Gregg? I guess he's a repeat offender

I don't think so. It was 8 years ago though.
