So what is a speaking marathon?

Speaking marathons allow you to speak with someone one-on-one for 10 minutes, regroup, and then pair up with someone else again for another 10 minutes. You may come and return any time but please only leave during the regroups. This format works well for both introverts and extroverts. Regroup time would give introverts some breathing time.

You may speak about anything you wish. We recommend you focus on topics you're not quite well versed in. By speaking about the same topic through multiple 10-minute sessions, you should be quite comfortable at the end of the marathon.

We're also looking for native speakers to help. So if you're a native speaker of Spanish, English or French, please stop by and help us out even just for 15-20 minutes. Most learners love to speak to natives, and we're all grateful for your time.

This is definitely a community effort. So much work of so many people goes into this. Please thank our native speakers, hosts, r/languagelearning, r/Spanish, r/French, the Duolingo community, r/WriteStreak, r/WriteStreakES, r/WriteStreakEN, and so many other people who make this possible and seamless.

Besides these marathons, you should check out r/ReadStreak where it encourages you to read and write everyday.
