A friend of mine passed away and I was going to finish his GI Joe run for him. Then I saw the price of the silent issue and the number one he was missing and that went out the window.

Sorry about your loss.

He was a super cool guy and it took me years to add the comics he left me to my collection. I still miss him but I’m working on finishing up some of his other runs. Maybe I get the GI Joes he needed someday.

Which one do you need

He needed quite a few. His collection has: 14,22,29,33,37,41,43,44,47-51,54,56,57,59-73

Awesome!! Funny thing, I bought this off the stands in the '80s and was pissed it had no dialogue. I liked the art and love Snake eyes, but I traded it away. Now, it's worth a pretty penny

I got the one on the right from a local grocery store. The left one I paid $40 about 10 years ago and was alittle mad at myself for paying that. Didn’t realize the price had shot up so much

Every copy of this issue I’ve seen has spine ticks and wear. I’m not saying mint copies exist, but they are probably a lot rarer to find.

In the late 80’s, I had a fair copy of GI JOE 21 (got it in high school from a friend who was giving up his comics). Traded it a few years later to a comics dealer in the mall, for some cash.

That's because everyone read this particular issue over and over again.

I had my copy delivered in a brown paper wrapper as part of marvels subscription service at the time. First issue I got and read it till it fell apart. Would love to still have it but alas, I do not.

Did the postman fold them in half to fit in your box? I remember people having magazine/comic subscriptions, and they'd usually arrive with a nice crease right down the middle...

Sure did. Didnt care back then though. I never gave a thought to anything GI joe having value. I just liked the books and the toys. As an adult, i realize the value I lost or destroyed (there is still parts of a storm shadow figure inside my rancor), but the fun I had reading and playing is worth more to me than a dollar figure.

Probably the only time there will ever be a Star Wars/G.I.Joe crossover!

Oh, I had some epic battles between GI Joe, Star Wars, and my BB gun. In retrospect, Im sad to say the BB gun always won 🤦. Had a blast though!

The Canadian edition has a misprint. The cover should read, "The most unusual G.I. Joe story ever, eh?"

3
StreetPreacherr•

As someone clueless about GI Joe comic history, what's the significance of this issues?

3

Silent story. No dialogue.

AH! I think I heard about this issue, and it was compared to an 'Alpha Flight' issue that was the opposite, and had dialogue but NO PICTURES! lol
