Theory without too much backing, but...

My idea is promised land the original sequel to mindcrime. There are some connections. The way i see it, Nikki is the old man who is gasping and dying. In the song "damaged" it says "Mother Mary" is in control (Not sister mary, but the song also mentions how the main character's memories are "damaged" with his other half.). In the song "someone else" he is talking about someone else being in control of a choice he made, and in the end of the song when the voice replies "Me" it sounds like nikki almost from the few examples of him talking we have. Finally my favorite example i like to think of this, in the song "out of mind" people are seeing someone who isn't there when our main character is, so the way i see it now is they see nikki the idea being nikki died but wasn't finished so he was sent back into someone else's life. Being a notorious killer in this universe he would of course be known to many especially the Old man who sits there cursing him out. There are a few plot holes to this idea and I don't wanna say its full proof but damn does it make is so much better of an album. If you find more connections please comment them.
