I've played several top50 teams in qualifiers and mostly we managed to take like 5-10 rounds from them, mostly because they play quite puggy against weaker teams. So yeah, there definitely is a chance to make a cool play once in a while :)

Nah, people brag they had the chance to play with/against a pro player in MM, imagine playing against a full team of legends. They might not be top tier anymore, but I would tell everybody all the time I played against those guys. Bonus points if I somehow manage to get a knife kill or something.

Fallen/Fer/FNX are legends and idols to pretty much everyone whos in this qualifier, I guarantee everyone who isn't at least semi pro level would want to play against the Last Dance, even if they'd get stomped 16-0

Hilarious was the way they were eliminated by WO (by the rules) in the next match but the other team forgave them and asked the admin to allow the match to happen. Absolutely crazy how the last dance could have been eliminated because Fallen didn't connect to the server

Meh these aren't really organized teams at this stage of the championship. I would've taken the game vs CS legends versus advancing and probably losing the next game anyways in their position too.
Which makes this whole stage of the tournament super weird to me. There should be some criteria for teams entering. But I guess that's just the nature of open qualifiers.

Exactly. The whole point of those teams to play in open qualifiers is to have fun, I would rather lose 0-16 against imperial than losing 16-14 against some random team down the road. The game being streamed and the shirts are just bonus at this point.

Why does the other team have to request for that in the first place? Such things should be set in stone by the rulebook, im pretty confident these guys didnt ask for it because theyve seen the abuse other br teams have got in the past (FURIA).
These guys are not an actual team, just a group of friends messing around in the qualy. To them it was way cooler to play aggainst FNX, Fallen etc then to go foward a rounf and lose either way.
The point is its a qualifier for a massive event, why are not such rules written out clear as day so no dumb kids go harrassing and threatening people over such things.
You dont go to a qualifier because it's "very cool to delay the matches when the other team should forfeit but you're afraid of the backlash (for no real reason mind you)". I imagine most of these teams are going to such qualifiers in hopes of going as far as they can.

Yeah, it's absolutely crazy and unprofessional for tournament organizers to leave it to the players to choose whether or not they should follow their own rules.
Even if the players are fine with it and are willing to support the popular option, you're bound to have situations where they aren't and they will have to deal with the backlash themselves because of this.
