Is the light novel finished?
Also should I read from the start or continue from where the anime ends

The anime, manga, and light novels are all very different stories. Definitely start with the first LN
Are they? I have watched the anime and read volumes 1 and 2, and while the anime cut out stuff, it still felt quite recognisable
The anime skips a few arcs and merges the important details into other ones (like, there's a major event between Osfjord and returning to the Rhine that's skipped in the anime, and a major development during that operation got moved to keep the anime consistent). The movie squished elements of several arcs into one storyline.
Basically, I'd say the story develops differently enough to be worth reading from the start. The first couple volumes are a little rougher on the writing though.
Does writing become more readable/less complex after few volumes?
Well there tend to be fairly complex plot points, but the writing itself gets a bit more streamlined from Volume 3 onwards. Volume 3 is also right about where Season 1 of the anime ends (the last chapter has the desert campaign).
Just walked into Newberry comics and bought 1 through 9! Time for my 1st read through!
Enjoy! :)
Aww. I already finished it all. Lucky you. I hope you savor them
No.
Always start from the start.
