The life he’s describing is “boring as hell” though. Like literally the most boring way to live
Came here to say this. Those things literally are not fun (with the exception sampling good food, but somehow I doubt this guy has the cash to, say, eat a perfectly marbled steak at his city’s nicest steakhouse).
Also, why did he go with porn and not sex? V-I-R-G-I-N.
His idea of good food is all available on Just Eat.
The best food that I ever tasted was when I won an award at work, a global oil company, and was invited to the big annual national conference.
Something tells me that the best food will cost something that I’ll be unwilling to spend for myself.
Good food to this guy is McDonald’s and frozen mozzarella sticks.
those mozzarella sticks are really good if done right
I mean, they’re alright. I wouldn’t use them as an example while I’m justifying my slovenly existence.
life is a collection of memories
what he described is some monotone boring existence, no moment of which is memorable or distinctive in the slightest
it's a shame that a person with access to adult pleasures doesn't think like an adult
And his hedonistic life will not even be worth remembering
By the time he realizes that(if he ever does) it will be far too late.
It may sound fun at first, but eventually it gets old and depressing. Even then people are usually in denial and continue for years because they tell themselves they've made the right choice.
I had a 6 month stint of being unemployed once and i could do anything i wanted and it was the worst time of my entire life. I smoked, I ate, I laid around like a slug- it’s funny how freedom like that made me so glad to have a consistent workweek again. I hate people like this.
Least hedonistic redditor.
Slaanesh is pleased
Not even hedonistic lol
"he·don·ism
/ˈhēdəˌnizəm,ˈhedənˌizəm/
Learn to pronounce
noun
the pursuit of pleasure; sensual self-indulgence."
How is it not?
As taking drugs gives you less pleasure in the long run, so it's not even maximizing pleasure.
I mean yeah that's the entire point of mocking them, however that does not mean that it does not necessarily near perfectly exemplify the behavioral standards or traits typically associated with that way of living
And thats why it's a dumb shir philosophy, because it still arbitrarily defines shit based on comfort and convenience
That's a great way to stop yourself from actually enjoying anything.
Tbf thats kinda true for both. If you only consider things worth it based on how you will look back at them on your death bed, that also seems kinda miserable
It's almost as if everything should be done in moderation and we've forgotten this.
Oh wow anon, you do drugs, jack to porn and eat all day? You’re so interesting and not boring 🥰🥰
They pretty much admitted they don't have a gf, no way they're getting one when they currently get so much joy from porn. And they almost certainly wouldn't want one since that'd require effort.
Give it 10 years when their dopamine sensors are fried and they'll be miserable.
Pleasure and fulfillment are different in kind. Pleasure is a feeling. Fulfillment is a state of mind, developed through right living, achieved through the exercise of reason. Seeking pleasure and pleasure alone will inevitably leave you empty and only happy during those pleasures. Each pleasure lasts a few minutes and each experience weaker than the last. When those pleasures end your entire purpose has ended.
In comparison, seeking fulfillment ties your joy to a ultimate goal. Your life is given purpose in every second since your goal will only be met in death.

Spoken like a true philosopher. Sounds like you've been reading some books. Whatever those are I wanna read 'em.
I'd recommend starting with the Stoics, like Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, and Epictetus.
What is your goal/fulfillment?

Wait, is it a potato chip or a burger?
Or a computer program?
Not everyone cares about fulfillment. If you don’t care about fulfillment, why not live in pleasure?
The absolute state of welcoming your oppression with open arms just because it feels good
It doesn't necessarily feel good, it's just easier than living a fulfilling life
That’s a good point, the subversion of the west started at making it more and more difficult to live a fulfilling life.
Let me expand on this, I want you to think about everything that you were taught about life in the Middle Ages and pre-industrial, how hellish and brutal it was.
Then disregard that because it’s an ahistorical lie, built on examining history through the lens of how much material comfort did a given population have. Such things were irrelevant to the men of the era however, and why should they have been?
Does it matter whether or not I can go access McDonald’s, or watch porn on my little screen if I’m denied the basic human fulfillment of a family and unsubverted lifestyle?
This absolute nonsense about comfort tells you all you need to know, what priorities they have, and who they are fundamentally as a person. A weakened shell of a human being who’s only utility is a meatbag for you-know-who to use as they see fit.
Such creatures are below the label of humanity, for they themselves strive to strip themselves of their own.
You right Jago
What can I say I’m allowed a few vices to consoom, mine happens to be 40k.
Magnus did nothing wrong, Konrad was right, and the Imperium objectively is justified.

He's mixing up pleasure with happiness. I'm sure in a couple of years he will be whining online about how he feels numb to everything and chalk it up to depression, not realizing that he's actively doing the numbing.
>implying he will reach 70 with that lifestyle
I think using r//teenagers is cheating at this point. That whole sub is "Average Redditor" posts.
Agreed. It is basically just crossposting to another relevant sub. Low hanging fruit.
The best thing to post at the point is just “I feel sorry for you” and never say anything else. They will probably say something snarky but in reality they will be thinking about that a lot and it will bother them
I know a man who gave up smoking, drinking, sex, and rich food. He was healthy right up to the day he killed himself. -Carson
There's nothing wrong with partying or relaxing. They are life's punctuation marks on sentences of work. Partying all the time is ironically.... pointless.
If every moment is hedonism the hedonism becomes work. You need contrast.
I would say partying or relaxation without the input of hard work, or meaningful accomplishments prior is damaging. As rewards for your labors, or as a mechanism to manage and balance your mental state, they're fine, but "just because" makes them meaningless engagements of self-gratification that ultimately destroys your motivation. Also moderation is key, "work hard play hard" is just as bad, as it forms a toxic cycle. Do what grandpappy did, when he came up from his 16 hour shift in the gypsum mines he had a beer and enjoyed some radio in between bloody coughing fits. He didn't snort cocaine off a hooker's ass just because he did hard work.
The practise of hedonism by today’s youth is an absolute catastrophe for them.
True, but it always has been that way. I don't think this is the first generation of young people who have at least tried out hedonism, and for some it will become their lifestyle until they fizzle out, but most will grow out of it as past generations have always done. It may be more accessible than in the past but people themselves have not changed and those destined to do something greater will do so despite the temptations they'll face. The rest will fall to temptation and be forgotten, if not serve as a cautionary tale.
A slaanesh cultist in the wild
Considering this is Reddit I'd say he's on his natural habitat
ACTUALLY TRUE
Oh yikes, the hedonism is too strong with this one. Who’s gonna tell him you can still have a good, fulfilling life while also not being a degenerate? Who’s gonna tell him?
I'm sure he's either been to Church or has been exposed to Christian influences that have told him, he just thinks he's "too smart".
What will he do when the dopamine runs out

A wise man once said that those who look for quick pleasure over pain are the weakest of us all. In context of hedonism the hedonist looks for fast and quick pleasure, whereas pain; working hard and long toward something and achieving it, is a far more satisfying and fulfilling experience than the short highs of drugs and masturbation. Both groups are essentially seeking a positive emotion, but one is willing to work harder and longer for a more satisfying one.
Our society is incredibly pain/risk adverse. Everyone's afraid of real confrontation, especially the scariest of all: confrontation of the self. They're terrified of feeling bad for even a moment, and so become addicted to idle things that build nothing at best and are destructive at worst. Teaching kids to deal with conflict and to embrace it is the only way out of this mess.
I read the words of a terribly unhappy man, pretending that everything is fine. Maybe is the empathetic side of me speaking but, I feel immense pity for such individuals, scared by how much they feel trapped in their own mind, lacking the knowledge to make that change. We should never judge, on any occasion and instead we should try lending a hand, always. May he be able to shatter the shackles that binds him to a life of unfulfillment.
We should never judge, on any occasion and instead we should try lending a hand, always.
Kind word like these are so rare nowadays that we don't even think about them as a possibility, you're totally right, may that guy find the truth and live a better life.
King Solomon learned the hard lesson this av'g redditor is likely to as well, should they persist in this lifestyle.
I don't think this redditor has an ounce of wisdom inside, surely not enough to reflect on the future of his hedonism
