1.0 out of 5 stars These rocks exploded in our gas fire pit. Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2019 Verified Purchase We have a small outdoor natural gas fire pit in our backyard. I placed these rocks into our fire pit and after a few minutes, two rocks exploded sending pieces of rock onto our patio roof. According to the product description, the rocks are to be used in fire pits and are not supposed to crack or break. I specifically purchased these rocks because I expected them to be safe. Too dangerous. Very disappointed. 31 people found this helpful Helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars No Popping or exploding Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2020 Verified Purchase I just got these and wanted to test out this popping and exploding assertion that some reviewers are claiming. I put the thing on the stove and had the flame at a medium to medium/high setting for at least 10 minutes. No popping. No exploding. The only thing that I am aware of that would cause such a phenomenon is if the rocks were wet and then a person put a flame to them. I was not going to test that out inside the house. Nice product, nice size, good price. Don't hesitate to buy. Don't put flame to them unless dry. Just a suggestion. 10 people found this helpful Helpful

TOP 1000 REVIEWERVINE VOICE 4.0 out of 5 stars A little expensive and need way more than one bag for a project. Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2021 Verified Purchase The product is fine- and the package was weighed for mailing, so I know I got the correct amount that is advertised in weight. The shape is good and the quality is good. They sort of look like Mexican beach pebbles in shape and I like that modern and cool look that these have over standard lava rock as well as the color (not red as some is). I’ll probably take a few for my indoor terrarium because they are a cool shape. The one drawback I see is that I had to buy two more bags and I’m still not even sure if that will be enough for the project I’m working on (a firepit). I really didn’t want to spend $75-$100 on rocks that won’t even be seen half of the time, but I guess since I started down this route I’m stuck rebuying more of them. Overall I’d recommend them. 2 people found this helpful Helpful

5.0 out of 5 stars Looks great!!! Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2019 Verified Purchase We've had these Lava Pebbles for several months now and have used many fires with them. They look great and they are excellent for our gas fireplace!! We've had no issues with them. I noticed some of the negative reviews mention they pop or explode in a gas fireplace, perhaps these people are placing the pebbles directly over the gas vents. Proper set-up requires free flow of gas/no blockage. So just properly place your pebbles and enjoy!!! 9 people found this helpful Helpful

TOP 100 REVIEWER 4.0 out of 5 stars If they are different colors let them dry! Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2021 Verified Purchase At first I was very disappointed as I ordered three bags and one of them was extremely dark in comparison to the other two. However after about a day of drying all the rocks seem to transformed the same light gray color. They didn’t feel what the touch but there must’ve been some moisture in the bag. So if you get them and they seem inconsistent open the bag up let them dry they were all of the same eventually.

The only reason I didn’t get us a five out of five was the cost, high priced!

I hope this was helpful 2 people found this helpful Helpful

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer beware..... not all same product sent Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2021 Verified Purchase Buyer beware. I ordered 2 packages of the lava rock even after seeing all the negative reviews and they were right. I was sent two separate boxes with two completely different products from the same order. One was the lava rock and was a great product and value that worked. (note- some people said the rock exploded, if you read any lava rock article any lava rock can explode if wet or moist and put into high heat. There is a way to dry them out). Second package was NOT lava stone and was polished river rock for garden. This is very dangerous as these rocks are NOT meant for fire pits and WILL explode and can be very dangerous. HUGE fail on Amazons part as they are the seller and shipper here. One person found this helpful Helpful

Reviewed in the United States on June 8, 2018 Verified Purchase The look is great however after having the gas on in the fire pit for less than 20 minutes we heard loud popping and had several rocks explode. One barely missing myself and my dog as it flew across the deck. Taking them out and throwing away. Was a waste of money for us. 16 people found this helpful Helpful

1.0 out of 5 stars Began exploding after 15 minutes in the fireplace. Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2021 Verified Purchase I finally had a chilly night in order to have the fireplace lit. I was peacefully enjoying a book in my chair beside the fireplace when I heard a loud bang like a shot from a gun. Fortunately, I was not hurt, but there were fragments of the lava rock that had exploded all around me. This company should not be allowed to sell this product for fireplaces. Someone could be killed. One person found this helpful Helpful
