Playing Through Every Choices Book, In Order (Part 39: High School Story 2)

Hey! Today we head through winter at Berry High, and deal with a real icy lady taking rule over the school. With everyone at each other's throats, can we somehow miraculously fix everything? (spoiler alert: yes we can).

Next time, we wrap up sophomore year at Berry High, but not before a tumultuous closing to the year after all of Hearst's students end up at Berry...Does this mean I can do that date with Max now? No? Alright....

Also, I was thinking of doing another series, wherein I go through books and try and patch em' up a little, in terms of genderlocks, LI's, storylines, etc. Let me know if you're interested, and if so, which book you'd like to see first!

Review:

This book expands on the first one very well, in my opinion. Storylines like Emma’s familial troubles are developed more, and new plotlines like Aiden’s parents (who remind me of my own lol - I’m Indian), and of course the main storyline involving Isa. Speaking of that storyline, honestly it was probably the weakest part of the book for me. I get that they were trying to go for some action to spice things up after the relatively peaceful first book, but I think they veered a little too far from groundedness with the whole “Isa is actually a deceptive con artist embezzling funds from the school” thing. Like, why would Ashley even go to the trouble of becoming vice principal, just to rob a public school? Does she think they hide gold bars in there or something behind the grotesque lunches? But hey, the whole thing was at least entertaining. The other major plot of this book is the infighting between the three activities: cheerleading, band, and the basketball team. The feuding was alright, I guess, but it felt a bit harsh. I mean, I spared Myra in the last book, and she repays me by being bitter and nasty when I cheer for my school? Thanks Myra, I’m glad you’re the one they gave an incredibly heavy storyline to in the next book! However, the infighting didn’t bother me too much, and everyone does make up by the end, so whatever. Michael is still my favorite LI on this app, so there’s that. I wish guys like him had gone to my high school lol. However, him being playersexual makes me question why there’s a line of dialogue in Book 1 where he says that his first kiss was with a girl he liked, because that seems to put Michael in the camp of “straight except for male M/C”. Doesn’t stop me from adoring him though lol. All in all, this book is just as amazing as the first book, although perhaps a little less so.
