Which 1.9 is easier to make fully mechanical?

Hello I’m US based and I’m looking to swap a 1.9 diesel into a Toyota truck. I’m looking to make an engine fully mechanical with only power to the starter and fuel shut off. Where I live there is no emissions testing. So which engine is easiest to make “m-TDI”? And what pump do I need for that specific engine? I’ve done a lot of reading already but it gets a little confusing when people talk about a hybrid pump and sourcing small pieces from several different cars.

Edit: My goal is not huge power. I’m wanting to build a ‘bug out’ EMP proof vehicle. I don’t want to debate the validity behind this in this thread. Just information would be great thank you. Yes I’m fully aware the 4x4 system in the Toyota is electronic. I have already began making it mechanical.

AAZ had a mechanical pump already, don't know if it was sold worldwide

Canada/Euro only. Never sold in the US though you can get used refurbished ones for around 4k delivered from a place in LA

AHU was fully mechanical. I would get a stand alone ECU and go with a 2.0 TDI. More power and easier to tune.

Thanks for the input. I’m not looking for anything with an ECU. While I’m very comfortable tuning ECUs (BMW INPA system and Subaru Cobb stuff) I want to build something that could survive the end of the world.

The AHU will get you there. Just not at any lightning speeds. 1992-1995 will have the parts you want.

I would assume ALH
