Contradictions

What are your favorite/hated contradictions in teaching?

Here's mine:

"Our students have had a rough and you need to cater to their needs in this trying times but also you need to make sure they work constantly from the moment they enter the classroom to the moment they leave."

"You need to differentiate instruction so that the students can pass the standardized test."

"We need teachers in the hallways during passing period, We also need you to be monitoring your students as they come in and make sure they're working."
