Finding my father, who is in prison and i’ve never spoke to. How can i find him?

[England] I’m trying to find my dad. My mum got pregnant by an older man when she was 16 and stopped contact when she was pregnant with me. From googling him recently we found out he got sent to prison except we don’t know which one. All we have of him is his name and where he got prosecuted through a newspaper article. Is there anyway to find out where he is so I can contact him? I know this sounds like a bad idea but i’m doing it because I need to find out some family history. P.S im 13F. Thank you for your help in advance.
