Puppy Boredom and Aggression
I grew up with springers my entire life and recently brought home a puppy of my own. Despite getting him from a seemingly reputable breeder, at only 9 weeks my puppy has been exhibiting some behavior I'm not familiar with from this breed. He is unable to entertain himself even for a moment and has no interest in toys. Even when I try to play with him with a variety of toys, he would much rather bite me or the furniture. I've tried a variety of toys, including enrichment games with no luck. Once I continue to tell him to leave everything he goes for, he eventually gets bored and falls asleep. Additionally, he's more aggressive than the springer puppies I've had. Like mentioned above, even when I redirect him with a toy he makes a conscious decision to bite me again. He also struggles with food aggression. He growls and has snapped when someone tries to take away a bone or his food. Should I be alarmed with this behavior at 9 weeks? Has anyone else experienced these issues with their springer puppy?
