Why is my ex lying about our break up?

It was a healthy/mutual breakup, and even though he was the one who initiated it, I had already wanted to end things.

So why is he spreading the lie that I initiated things?

I’m easy going enough, so this doesn’t truly faze me, but why is he doing it? What is he gaining from it?

The majority of the time I shrug it off because he won’t even tell people we broke up (because he doesn’t want guys flirting with me, but I let people know quickly), but it has me wondering if I should just shoot him a text or ask him in person why he’s doing this.

Should I confront him? I don’t like liars, so this has been stirring in me seamlessly.
