ash of war parry and dual wielding and parrying frames discussion
if you tried playing around with ash of war and dual wielding, you probably realized that the AoW on you main hand weapon trumps the one on your off-hand weapon. This makes sense, allowing you to use the main hand as the AoW while dual wielding and reverting the the alternative AoW by 2 handing the off hand weapon. OK.
But the AoW "parry" is the exception to this rule: if you have say 2 rapiers and you put parry on either the main or the offhand, the end result is that pressing L2 will make you parry with either of the weapons that have the parry AoW equipped. I jam realizing I did not try to duplicate the AOW to see if double parry prompts a double weapon parry...this would be awesome!
anyways...questions now:
-
is this a glitch, on oversight or does this exception exist on purpose for whatever weird reason I cannot seem to fathom?
-
does the type of weapon receiving the AoW parry matter regarding the parrying frames? i.e., does the parrying dagger enhanced with parry have the same frames the same as before, with its default parry skill? does a curved sword have the same parry frames as a rapier?

shields: we know thanks to the beautiful work from u/seboy666 here https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/t54kyj/technical_guide_help_i_tested_parrying_frame_data/ that buckler has 15 parrying frames. Does this hold true once modified with and AoW that parries like parry, golden parry, carian retialiation etc....?or does the buckler suddenly get a normalized parrying frame count as a result as well?
