AITA for Wanting to Move Out and Away From My Housemate?

Not the A-hole

I (26nb they/them) have been living with my housemate, L (24f she/they), going on three years come this October. We met at work, after a few months of hanging out after work we decided to move in together. Both of us lived 1-1.5 hours away from work. First few months things were fine, next not so much. Insert montage of many arguments, drama, mental health stuff and growth.

My issue lies in the fact that I’ll express my irritations to L, and she ignores them? I ask her to wash her dishes, it’s a hassle. I cook, clean up, pack their lunch with leftovers, and wash both of our dishes. So I stopped cleaning up after her. L would sleep on the couch in the summertime (no AC in their room, but there’s one in the living room) she would always leave her phone charger across the path. I’ve tripped over it multiple times, because the lights are never on. I’ve told her I dislike that she’s always on the couch, that the charger is always tripping me. Placed a side table next to the couch for their phone, and drinks (cats keep knocking them over and staining the carpet) does the phone OR drinks go on the table? If you said no you’d be correct.

Now, current time. I told L I want to move out. Do to things listed, and more. I told them I’m tired of cooking, cleaning, and buying the food with no recognition or help. Especially after asking, told her it’s like she doesn’t care (because I’ve asked for things to change). So now L does all the housework without me asking in hopes that I won’t leave… (they suffer with some mental health stuff, as do I, don’t we all~?). But my trap card is, my own disorders make me isolate hard core. L had a job change, which came with new hours and that equals no time in the house alone. And I HATE it. I /need/ time without her presence. I don’t want to leave and go somewhere (because I’d like to clean or do something productive), I’d feel rude telling her to go somewhere… so I figured the easiest thing for me to do is just leave. She doesn’t have active conversations on topics like this with me either. It’s always “I need time to think,” but then never brings it up or says anything about it…. I end up talking at her instead of to her. So yeah! I love her dearly, I don’t plan on ending our friendship. I just don’t wanna deal with this anymore.

Thanks for reading! AITA?
