I can't relate to the hustle culture and I feel guilty about it.
I've always been an ambitious kid. Since I was 10 (I think?) I had this idea I must try my best to succeed so well that my family and I would never have to worry to worry about financial security. I worked my ass off, got into a good college and started freelancing from my first year so I could gain some side money and experience.
All of this paid off and now I got an offer from a really nice company with a pretty decent salary with benefits. Ever since I got that offer, I felt a huge weight off my chest. It's like I was running for the last 12 years and finally I can stop. The money can always be better but I feel this is genuinely good and for a while I felt peace.
But here's the thing, everywhere I look I see people trying to go further, faster and aim higher. On almost every platform such as Twitter and LinkedIn, I find people so passionate about something and hustling towards it. Looking at all these posts and ideas I feel so guilty because ever since that offer I haven't done anything. I haven't tried learning something new or searching for a better offer. Compared to the dedication for such things I see online, I feel so guilty. Am I doing enough? I feel like I made the 10yo kid proud and my parents are so unbelievably happy.
I want to study more and I want to aim higher. It's just that for now I feel like I've run out of ambition and I'm scared I'll be stuck in the same place years from now.
