Another commuting question
Hi everyone! I am an incoming family medicine resident. I am thinking of trying commuting for a year. In this iteration:
I live outside a larger city (Point A) and matched 45 minutes away (Point B). It is a straight shot down a highway, but it is 45 minutes no matter what. Here are the confounding facts:
•I currently live in a house and our rent is $1600, Point B is $2000 for an apartment. It would be a good deal smaller and more expensive. •My partner lives with me and has a job at Point A after switching into a new field. He does not have enough experience yet to switch, so he would have to commute if we moved. •In-between Point A and B is farms and rural towns, but no quality rentals. Fewer grocery stores and generally lower quality of life for my partner. •My mom lives 20 minutes from Point B so I could crash there.
In your experience, would it be better to stay at Point A or move closer to Point B?
