The Life of a High School Student

Poem

I wake up to hairless apes

I eat heated chicken embryos

and sometimes grapes

I turn on a screen and Im hit with woes

I go to a school

And I see more hairless creatures

Except the ones here are rather dull

The old one are called teachers

The more I return

I figure out that we play a numbers game

The goal is not to learn

Seriously, what is the aim?

I sit in a room

Filled with my fellow captive

All with the same feeling of gloom

In a system that is not adaptive

But the great pain isn’t clear

We aren’t hurt by an education

It's what we miss I fear

For this can’t be a way to make a nation

Some tell us that It will help us for a career

Then that's not a career I want

Some tell us it's a game thats end is almost near

Then why play into this Stunt?

Surely we can’t be valued by a number less than four

Why do we act as if this number is a placement of God

Our schools and their goals are in a perpetual war

This is surely not face that we can applaud

If you want to educate a generation

Teach them that learning is a right and opportunity

For what we have now is an abomination

Maybe I’m crazy but through discovery we can create a unity
