Hd560s vs SHP9600 as complement to X2HR
I have recently gotten the Philips Fidelio X2HR but had to send it away for repair (a fragile but essential - bad combo - plastic screw broke). I really liked it. I listen to mostly classical music but also some general pop.
Anyway, there’s no ETA on the repair. I’m now stuck with an Ath M50 that I don’t like. (I find the sound too closed off and in somehow, and it gives me listening fatigue quickly.)
So I was thinking of getting an alternative headphone. Two is one and one is none, right? It would serve while I wait and also be an alternative when I do get the x2 back.
I was thinking of getting the Philips shp9600 which is only about $60-70 here now. But then I thought I might as well jump up to the hd560s, on sale right now at not even $100 more than the 9600.
What do you guys think would make sense? My impression is that the 9600 while also cheaper is a more fun headphone, but I’m not sure how it fares with classical, orchestral music. My impression is also that the hd560s is perhaps a bit flat and not as fun, but I’ve gathered it might to better with classical music. If it is a lot better at that type of music, that might sway me to paying more. But around $150 would be the limit.
I haven’t been able to go to a store and try any of them out, no store around me carry them. Would be very grateful for any advice!
