Review:

I named my M/C in this book Holly, only thinking about how it matched the holiday theme all neat, and didn’t realize that one of the LI’s was named Holly lmao. I have to tell y’all - this book was pretty boring tbh. For one, it’s genderlocked for no godforsaken reason. Two, I just really don’t think the plot’s anything special for a holiday book. You have your “grumpy grinch” character, Nick, and the rest of the town are the denizens of freaking Whoville. I will say that Nick is incredibly hot, and I wish his sprite came back as a LI in some future book. I also like Wyatt and his sprite - he reminds me of white male Hayden from Perfect Match, or Sawyer from Big Sky Country. All the other characters besides the LI’s were bland. I didn’t really care about my brother or Avery, or my mother and Charles (though Charles is fun and I like him), or the mayor, or those random little kids, or Wyatt’s somewhat-obnoxious mother, and that made it hard to get into the whole “cheery town” vibe that makes this book work. It’s also only ten chapters long, and has a skeleton of a conflict, which is resolved in like two seconds in the final chapter. Like, why should I even care about Holly’s manuscript omg. As if a straight romance book about two people falling in love in a small town during the holidays hasn’t been done to death already, even back when this book was made. I guess this book just proves I’m not someone who’s super drawn to the holidays, or maybe that’s just the book’s fault - y’all choose which lol. All in all, the book was wholesome enough, and had its highlights (such as Nick shirtless), but in the end failed to interest me all that much. Fun for a small little Christmas romp genderlocked as a woman, if you’re into that.
