5e Got lost in the excitement, almost possibly blew up a campaign that’s been running for about a year and a half.
So if you’re in the SSBS you already know this and should probably bugger off.
So the details don’t matter too much. We’re level fourteen, Eberron, King of Breland gives us a task and sets us off on his airship to get there.
En route the airship that we had um… misplaced.. in the mournland shows up above us and starts dropping explosives, then guys and some glue to trap the Captain and the helm.
Then the other elemental galleon pulls along side, my warlock Misty steps over and drops a force cage over himself and the main bad guy.
We whoop the shit out of the lot. Combat ends and I’m on a rush. This is great and with an airship now in our hands we can use this on our mission as a gift to curry favor with the Queen of Stone to try to get some Breland hero who’s been petrified back.
Well the NPC of the old ship we were flying on is chained to the helm and gagged. After ungagged and unshackled, they protest over us taking the ship.
Aaand then I turned into the murder hobo. Cast mental prison followed up swiftly with a barrage of eldritch blasts ( illusionist bracers, 6 blasts total at advantage ).
112 damage total, maybe 120 if AC 18 would hit.
There was some scrambling by the DM, things got real tense and some snapping did happen. We finish the session, DM and I stick around to talk and apologize. I just murdered a main NPC that I actually liked both in and out of character and set a wedge between my character and the group, if not myself and fellow players too.
I am the asshole and I’m going to feel like a rotten prick for awhile.
Edit: Cleric has confirmed he usually doesn’t keep revivify prepped because we’ve really never needed it.
Post edit edit: That doesn’t put the burden of responsibility on the cleric. These were my actions and not theirs. It would have been great if he did but that doesn’t change anything.

Lv14 but nobody can bring someone back to life?
A point I actually pointed out in character. Our clerics response was “that’s powerful magic that I just don’t want to toss around”.
Revivify is a 3rd level spell. I’d hardly call that “Powerful Magic you don’t want to toss around”.
I’m not disagreeing but I’m also not sure why it wouldn’t have been done.
I of course can’t demand he does, both in and out of character, but that doesn’t make it less of a point. It absolutely was an option ( assuming he had it prepared? Do clerics work like that? He’s said that before. )
