Monthly challanges are getting repetitive and boring

Discussion

since July last year every month i have to close move ring x times/ close all rings x times/ close exercise ring x times. every month is the same... no run x km/do x minutes of exercises/burn x amount of calories...

Ignore the monthly challenges. If you get them, you get them. The monthly challenges are an upward spiral that will never end.

I concentrate on closing three rings a day, and that’s it.

I definitely like the Apple Watch more than my old Fitbit, but I do miss the random lifetime achievement badges. I think Apple could for sure add some more fun/interesting awards.

They should give you the option to choose what you want to focus on this month. I want to set my own goals, like one month I want to go for a run 8 times, next month could be improve my average pace to a set goal etc

Completely agree! This would make it a bit more engaging for me.

January - 1510 minutes exercise February - 130.3 miles March - 24,100 calories April - 2120 minutes exercise!

That’s an increase of 600 minutes more than January. I won’t even be focusing on this month’s challenge. I’ve determined that sometimes just closing the rings is good enough.

I have only had my Apple Watch since December and my monthly goals have gotten ridiculously hard. The first two months that they gave me challenges, it was to 11,946 calories and to double my move goal 4 times. I easily did that. Then March it bumped up to burning 27,800 calories (which I just barely got to yesterday afternoon to get the medal). My challenge for April is 3,460 exercise minutes this month and I need to average 115 minutes a day. Like what the heck? I don’t need to be killing myself every month to meet these goals but I’m also a completionist so I really want to. Like just because I got x number of exercise minutes last month doesn’t mean I want to do like 600 more minutes this one.

I'm coming to the point that the challenges aren't healthy. Current one for me wants me to walk nearly 6 miles a day. That's a lot of strain on a body, especially when one is cutting calories and eating less. This month if I get it, great, but I can't see how or why I want to do this.

My watch wants me to walk or run 230+ km.

  1. I don't run, I workout or bike or swim depending on the weather.
  2. The weather is shite for the next two weeks to walk 8km daily so I'm fucked 😂

I stopped prioritizing Apples monthly fitness challenges after getting a Peloton a few months ago for the same reason.

If you take a few months of not meeting them, they get really easy before ramping up slowly.

For example my January goal was hit my move goal (400) 10 times. April 2021 was 112 exercise minutes.

Or just ignore them and go for perfect weeks instead, since those will probably more realistic.

it't not that they are hard. they are just repetitive and boring.. when i first got my watch, november last year i had some interesting ones from time to time, like burn 30.000 calories this month, or run 150km. but in the last 6 months every one is : close rings 18 days-22 days

I focus on my move goal. I adjust it every Monday based on previous weeks performance. + 10 for every day I make it and -10 for every day I miss it. If I miss every day I subtract 70 from my previous week. If I make it three days and miss four I subtract 10. If I make it 6 days and miss one I add 50.

Maybe your problem is you.
