Struggling to get 144hz on my monitor

Tech Support

I’ve got a BenQ XL2411z 144hz monitor with HDMI and DVI ports but my GPU only has hdmi and display port. I can’t get 144hz through hdmi, is there any advice on how to get it or should I just get a new monitor?

HDMI port on this monitor seemingly doesn't do more then 60hz
use DVI if you can

What about hdmi 2.1? Will that give me 120hz at least?

I think the problem is that your monitor just supports hdmi 1.2 or lower not your GPU or cable

Yeah I would use dvi but my gpu doesn’t have a dvi port

Only the 6000 series from amd and the 3000 series from nvidia have HDMI 2.1.

I've got the same monitor. HDMI won't do 144 Hz, best I could get was 75 Hz with a custom resolution.

You could get an expensive active and powered Displayport to dual link DVI-D adapter, that would support 144 Hz.

As far as i know, only Display Port supports 144hz and above.

I have a 165hz monitor. I got 144 with the HDMI the monitor came with, but had to buy a DP for 165hz

Some searching - An active DP-dual link DVI to get it working..? Search up Dell Bizlink Dual Link Adapter for 144Hz.

HDMI supports 120 sometimes 144 it depends on the type. I believe 1.2 or 2.1 (I forgor) but other than that only Display Port and DVI-D are going to get you 144+
