building around a Intel i9-12900KS

Build Help

Hello!

I am building a new gaming PC and wondering if I am missing anything. I do not care about RGB. Just cooling and compatibility. Let me know if I could go with a better part/case/cooler. It's been over 7 years since I put one together, so I am out of date on compatibility. Thanks,

I am covered on hard drives. Using a 2080 until prices come down. And a Corsair HX Platinum 1000w

Uhh, you seem to be missing a graphics card. Is this on purpose? Also a power supply.

Oops, yes. I am sticking with my 2080 until prices come down.

And dangit. Forgot to add Corsair HX platinum 1000w.

Don't you know that a strong i12-69420KS is all you need for a beefy gaming PC?

Seriously though I assume OP either already has a card or will be buying one when availability is better in their region.

is this a joke? Did you expect a 280mm cooler to cool 12900KS?

A 280mm AIO will cool a 12900K just fine. There are people running it on air. It might not turbo for as long and have slightly higher averages but it's not as if it won't work.

No. That's why I am here.

Also Toms hardware used one in tests. So I thought it was a safe bet.

Opinions on a better?

We used an Asus Ryujin 2 360 AIO in push/pull configuration to cool our 12900KS when we were doing benchmarks and were able to keep it cool if you wanted something to fall back on.

Awesome thanks. I bought my CPU from your store today.

If this is just for gaming, a 12700k or even a 12600k would be enough.

Main question is : why?

unity development, model making, VR streaming.

Then do you really need those 4 extra e-cores, or wouldn't the 12700k be a better bet? 12900ks is just a bit better binned and clocked regular 12900k, which is a monster , but is only marginally better. Even a 12900 non-k is a good proposition since cpu overclock isn't that really much of a bonus nowadays. Put the 12900 in a good b660 or h670 board, remove power limits and you have a cheap, powerful system.
