What is your research process like for writing your scripts?

DISCUSSION

Hi all!

I'm wondering how everyone does research for their scripts for scripts (especially based on historical or real-life stuff) Do you read about your subject? Talk with specialists?

For example, I'm writing a TV pilot about a group of postal workers, for that, I interviewed postal workers by email, phone and in person and compiled a document with their thoughts about the job and their stories. They are super weird people (hence my fascination for them) and I have a document just of weird/funny anecdotes they told me!

Does anyone else collect stories? It's one of the perks of being a storyteller I think!
