How to interpret nutritional information about raw vs. cooked food
I'd like to know how much calories are in the rice I ate. When in its raw state there was 109g per portion. Once I cooked it it obviously weighed much more but I did not weigh it afterwards... I can google this question and get an answer but I'm not sure I understand it. Is it giving me the nutritional value of the food in its raw state, that then changes when cooked, (thereby being pretty much useless to me) or is it giving me the information that it will be once it's cooked, but preserving the original weight? In other words can I type in 109g raw and that's how many calories I consumed, or do I have to find out what it weighed after cooking and look that up?
I don't know why anyone would care to know how much calories are in raw rice since you don't eat it raw (same applies to chicken, which I'm also curious about) but it is something that can be measured, I presume, hence my question.
