Kent Johnson ELC Information

This is meant to provide some clarity on the situation with KJ and his ELC: There’s no first-year slide possible if he were to play less than 10 games because while Johnson is only 19 years old, his birthdate (Oct. 18) falls inside the late-year window (Sept. 16 to Dec. 31). Essentially, the NHL’s CBA considers him to be 20 years old. So if Johnson signs a deal with the CBJ which is to be expected he will immediately burn a year of his contract.
