From the article:

“The sheriff said the investigation has determined the shooting “was not intentional.” Nevertheless, the case will be presented to Hancock County Youth Court so it can be determined whether the facts should lead to any charges.

No adults are currently charged with crimes. However, there are underlying questions being asked, such as how the two children got access to the guns. Sheriff Adam said it’s too soon to tell if any future charges will be filed. That is part of the investigation, which is ongoing.”

What are we talking about here? Yes, it is tragic that a young girl died. Those kids and families will be damaged forever.

Is this supposed to be about gun control?

What if it is about gun control? Why is that a bad thing?

Why is what a bad thing?

I was asking if the point of posting the article was to discuss gun control.

Ok got it, I misunderstood what you were asking about. I thought you were questioning the intent of the article itself and not the OP's motivation.

I was asking you why gun control is a bad thing. But that's now moot.

Ah.

I’m open to hearing discussion on gun control. I don’t think this is a good example to use. I have trouble imagining what gun control law would have prevented this kind of accident.

I think most people hold irrational positions on gun control. They are for or against based on a kind of visceral, emotional feeling rather than any rational position. (Of course, I think the same thing about abortion and drug law too so ….)
