Scott Ritter was extremely informative.

shitpost maybe :whatttt:

But he is a weirdo.

During his interviews, he went on to give the CIA and Marines the rub. Saying that their patriotism in both agencies are undeniable. He even said so himself that he was a patriot.

Scott... My man. You were there. You know how the sausage is made, my guy.

If they're ultra patriotic; how do they follow the orders that they do? How do they burn villages, kill innocent people, and commit war crimes and crimes against humanity? How do they do all that and think of Sally from Save-a-Lot who cant afford rent and necessities and think.... Yeah, this village full of dead people is TOTALLY what Sally would have wanted.

A patriot is one who serves on some level an ideal of their nation or country. So what did Scott Ritter feel patriotic about? What is this American ideal that they are so married to that it requires the patriots of the CIA to undermine the people, keep them poor, keep them divided, keep them confused, keep them scared, and destroys entire countries in the name of... Who? America?

What is this America that they're so proud of? Because right here at home, right in our own towns and streets, you have the patriots in the CIA, FBI, military, and law enforcement used to crush any labor movement, cooperate with hate groups and sabotage progressive movements.

American patriots? Did the joke just fly the fuck over my head when he went on and on about this patriotism?

Because if what they do IS American patriotism, then I cant fuckin relate. I live in the United States. But maybe Im not American.

All US government and military officials emphasize their patriotism because that’s simply how they’re brought up. Those who dissent to western imperialist policy nonetheless reveal the truth with an authoritative voice which is essential for countering western propaganda.

Scott Ritter is a real gem. He's hated by people from every part of the political spectrum, he's hated by "apolitical" blob realists that read too much news, and he's hated by actually apolitical normal people who just hate pedophiles. And he's been hated like this for 20 years. It's incredible.

Im not even mad. Im just confused about how when he was just telling the facts about this war; he had to go on a tangeant about how thr CIA's and Marine's patriotism should not be questioned. And okay. Let's say I agree to believe that statement.

Then... Is it not the case that their actions are the EPITOME and accurate expression of what American patriotism is? Because if so, then my goodness... Folks in America SHOULD be worried. Unless they agree. 🤷‍♂️

Why is hating pedophiles controversial?

I think what he meant was CIA people believe themselves to be patriotic. They believe they know what's best for America and have no problems breaking the law to achieve their goals. He did say CIA as a whole is evil though.

Yep. That's entirely compatible with what Scott said, when the ideals of the United States are exploiting and massacring civilians around the world to prop up their bloated empire. :P

But real talk yeah, you hit the nail with the second part, which is what my snide remark (directed at America) above is about. Both Republican and Democrat alike buy into that weird bullshit "America is an Idea" take, and as a response what the "American People(tm)" want or even who they mean when they say that is subject to whatever bullshit lens this fictional America they mean when they say that needs to be in order for their thoughts to make sense and line up.

There's this concept in sociology called American Civil Religion that posits that the United State's has become a religion complete with "holy texts" (think constitution circlejerking, etc) symbols (don't disrespect the flag or eagle) mythical versions of people as religious figures (worshiping or rehabilitating and then fawning over past leadership, etc etc) you get the point.

Anyway, it's an interesting theory, and worth thinking about when you see this kind of stuff. It definitely pops into my head every time I see the way these people are convinced of absolute magical thinking when they start talking about their patriotism and allegiance and duty and so on. Democrat and Republican alike. It's in every facet of American society.

Honestly, I think it's the result of the secularization of the west (sorta). Religion leaves the collective consciousness and in comes nationalism to fill it. You have your prophets (Reagan, George Washington, all the bunch), your holy books (the constitution), and tho and tho forth.

100%. I get what you mean, like not that the religion or lackthereof itself was caused it, but that this concerted shift in "social power" was shifted (either intentionally or unintentionally, but let's face it probably intentionally) from religion into canonizing the state itself. It entirely lines up with the cold war and us adding "in god we trust" and shit to the money and "one nation under god" to the pledge. Red scare "we're not evil atheists like the commies" bullshit that morphed into "worshiping god and the state is the same thing, we're a christian nation" garbage.

It absolutely continued from there to be weaponized into "American values" and grow into it's own thing, at least in my opinion.

This makes me think of Lawrence Wilkerson defending Colin Powell every time it's brought up

I still respect Wilkerson for speaking out later in his life(now that Powell's dead and the FBI is knocking on his door), and i do hope he is sincere in this, but yeah, it should not be forgotten how many ppl he helped to kill when in office.

It just has me ask questions. Actually; like PatSocs come off a little weird and silly and I sorta understand what they're trying to do.

But these people who are "REAL PATRIOTS" that have done these crimes and continue to do them.... I mean it REALLY makes me question exactly what matters to them. Like... Do they lose sleep knowing that Americans can easily become food insecure and losing their homes and dying from preventable disease? I would ask them how they see themselves as patriots and are willing to follow this disastrous national trajectory.

that sort of thing. no skin in the game, no sh*t is taken

you end up with ppl like madeleine "it was worth it" albright

Yep, you'll get that when it comes to anti-imperialism. We essentially have an ally of convenience in the anti- globalist people and some paleo-cons, which leads to otherwise great interviews having very sus bits
