China Bell in Grove City
6 for $7.95
Filling: 9/10
Wrapper: 7/10
Sauce: 7/10
Value: 3/5
Overall: 26/35
Filling: One of the best fillings I have ever had. It currently ties Molly Woo’s as my highest ranked filling. The crab flavor was strong and the green onion was excellent with it. I liked the garlic as well - it wasn’t the dominant flavor and complemented everything else very well. I was very impressed with how much filling these had packed in. I’ve never had a crab rangoon with more filling than these ones. The texture was silky smooth and very delicious. My only complaint was that I wish the filling had a bit more salt, but I’m just nit-picking. The flavor of these are incredible, and I absolutely wanted more when I finished eating them.
Wrapper: u/OhioVsEverything said these were full, and they weren’t kidding. This is the first triangle rangoon I’ve had where I was fully satisfied with the amount of filling in them. The wrapper to filling ratio was perfect. The wrappers were cooked very well, and the ends were crisp. I wish the entire rangoon had been a bit crispier, but overall, I was very pleased.
Sauce: This is a classic sweet and sour, and I was really pleased with the sour flavor. I’ve complained before that ‘sweet and sour’ often just tastes like ‘sweet’, but this sauce had a great mix. When paired with the rangoon, I thought it was a delicious balance of sweet, sour, and savory. The sauce was very rich, and I found that I didn’t want too much of it on the rangoon because of it. If dunked too much, the sauce flavor overpowered the filling, but once I found the perfect sauce to ‘goon ratio, it was excellent.
Value: Value metrics can be found in my data sheet. At $1.32 each, they get a 3.
Overall: These rangoon are very strong contenders, and they make my current top 5 list. The crab flavor in the filling is wonderful, and these are the most well filled rangoon I’ve ever had. The wonton to filling ratio was excellent, and when I found the perfect mix of rangoon to sauce, it made for the perfect bite. My only complaint is that I wish the filling was a bit saltier and the wonton a bit crispier, but overall, these are absolutely delicious. Well worth the drive to Grove City.
