It's been a week since I moved back in with my mom, and she's already said I'm a burden.
I have "high functioning" autism with ADHD comorbidity. I recently went through autistic burnout due to my job, and the amount of anxiety I have trying to support my family is overwhelming. I feel like I just can't do this on my own.
I make good money, but my fiance makes minimum wage, which meant previously that if I lost my job, we wouldn't have the resources to keep the home that we rent. (My kid is also autistic / ADHD, and we cannot live in an apartment because neighbors have previously called him a nuisance.) It was too much on my shoulders, and knowing how my condition makes my work incredibly unstable, my whole existence is just riddled with anxiety. I've lost about 75% of my hair, and I've had Moh's surgery to remove 4 instances of skin cancer, and I'm only 30.
We came up with a solution to buy an old RV, gut it and renovate it, and we could live on my mom's property. In the mean time, we're staying in the spare bedroom until it's renovated. This past week, I was supposed to go back to work after a short-term disability for the autistic burnout (but due to accessibility accommodations it's taking longer than expected). Tomorrow, I have a meeting, so I went out today to get a haircut, get my kid some pediasure (he has an eating disorder), and clean out our old house.
My mom called me raging about my stuff being on the porch, how I've been gone for "3 days" (basically getting some new work clothes - my old stuff is in tatters), how we keep her awake (for the record, it's their dog that barks at my fiance a lot - so when he needs to use the bathroom at night, their dog wakes up the whole house).
She basically went on a rant about how inconvenient this has all been for her. My alternative is homelessness. I've always kept a "go bag" in case... I have my tent, and some bare bones survival gear. I have a fishing pole, and stuff I need to basically rough it should it come to that. But every day I feel like I have to face the reality that so many people like me end up homeless and on the streets. And my mom is making me feel like the things on the porch, and the dogs waking her up matter more than my whole existence. (For the record, my mom only agreed to this to have free labor. She complained that we are not working on the RV, yet my fiance has been busy doing things like: setting up her new fire pit, cleaning the gutters, cutting down trees she doesn't want, raking the yard. We're happy to do it, but she's either complaining when I'm trying to prep for work that her list isn't getting done, complaining that I'm not working, even though my return to work isn't processed yet, or she's mad that we spent time on her to-do list rather than fix up our RV. I just don't know what to do anymore... I'm just hoping to last long enough so we can move the RV to an RV park at this point once it's functional...)
