Losing Hope of Finding a Partner to Have a Family With
I've been looking for the right woman to settle down and have a family with (F4F), since my 20s. My last serious relationship ended before the holidays, and I'm in my mid 40s now. I'm not here for sympathy (although all kind words are appreciated).
I'm starting to lose hope, and I feel an overwhelming sense of grief. What am I supposed to do for the next 40 years if I don't have a family? I can go hiking and go on vacation, but is that all there is? I can't give up on this aspiration, but I'm starting to feel like I may have to.
Granted, I've finally figured out how to choose partners who want ME and how to get rid of the narcissists before they can get a foothold. I'm in a better place, emotionally and financially, than I've ever been. I'm genuinely hopeful, and I'm able to put aside these emotions on dates and enjoy myself. It's just hard being alone in the mean time. How do I get through this?
4/20 Update: I'm feeling a lot better about things. Unhealthy potential partners are bouncing out of my life right and left. Really, they get rid of themselves, when I don't respond to their craziness. I'm loving my life, and there's room in it for the right person who's crazy about me, when she does come along.
Thank you all for your wisdom and perspective!
