Please bring back the pre-patch pirates in conflict systems
I’m not saying bring back the buggy behavior but at least increase the frequency and damage they do.

Why that was annoying
Because they took it too far to the point that pirates can’t even hurt you now so what’s the point of even having them now?
Without pirates there would be no stations, no black market gear, dead systems would be back and no expedition and also the reason they did that is this update is still haven’t patched so they just most likely nerfed them temporarily until they find the amount of power plus it is not as bad as losing a perma death world
I didn’t say remove the update I asked for the pre-patch pirates from the initial 3.85 update.
3.87 ruined pirates and turned them into a joke.
You just what is is the point of pirates if they don’t do damage I gave you a list
Aww cmon I love the dog fighting in this game and having pirates willingly fly to me is great helps me finish bounties and missions faster
This is the literal point of the Outlaws update, just find a system without pirates.
That’s the point. After the 3.87 “fix” even pirate and high conflict systems are a joke.
I want pirates, I want to have to run for cover when they do a bombing run, I want to feel like my maxed character COULD die … that was fun for the 3 days we had it.
I feel the game is boring again. With the constant raids it kept me on my feet. The pirates were too freaking easy though.
Also, having two building types next to each other on the same plot of land caused me to be fighting constantly. A huge issue with ALL ship combat is the need to be in the correct location to get the fast disappearing drops ... pretty stupid as when you shoot crap with your ship (like roids, plants and canisters) you get the drops instantly in your cargo ... but sure ... screw the players over by adding some garbage system where the cans are hard to see and disappear in like 5 seconds ... while you're in combat none-the-less.
Pirates are boring post patch even in high conflict systems.
They do almost no damage and can just be ignored while they attack you.
I think HG went too far with the nerfs and they ruined content I’ve been excited for and wanted for a long time.
I think the pirates should work on a scaling factor similar to the sentinels, only on a system wide scale not a planetary.
Low conflict systems = 0 to low pirate activity. Pirates are weak, low risk low reward (C class mods and generic mats like oxygen.)
Med conflict systems = manageable. Random pirate attacks every 10 min so. Loot doesn't suck but you could find better. (A and B mods, chromatic metal)
High conflict systems = get rekt son. High reward. (S mods activated materials)
The pirate systems themselves could follow the same scaling. Just because it's a pirate system doesn't mean it has to be unruly. Some pirates don't want to fight, they just wanna sit back chill and trade nip nip.
I just don’t understand why they had to nerf the frequency of attacks AND the damage they do (by like 300% it feels like).
It’s currently impossible to die while standing on foot even when 5 pirates are shooting directly at you.
Source: I afk’d for nearly an hour in a level 3 conflict system and made sure to stand directly on top of a hauler they were shooting and my shields never went lower than maybe 80%.
I mean that's where a conflict scanner would actually be useful too!! I don't even use the thing hardly because there's no use for it
I completely agree with you. I can easily win against pirates in my starting C Class starship with no upgrades. Can't imagine how easy and boring it feels on a maxed character in a maxed out S Class starship. Feels bad. Sorry everyone is down voting you for having an opinion.
waahhhh I want muh fighting........
Big mistake bringing up any wishes for more combat or challenge. Those suggestions are taboo here and get collectively witch-hunted with a plethora of downvotes.
This reddit only accepts pretty screenshot or requests for a variety update... Learned it the hard way.
Oh I’ve noticed.
The stupid thing is those players have a danger free mode they can play already so if pirates are too scary then they should play creative.
I am sure here everyone want challenges (maybe not the same), but it seems that HG is not able to find a good middle ground between something being a pain or a joke. Or maybe they cannot given how the game engine work, who know.
Well, the game is sold as an exploration game. It is fine to have some danger or some dangerous encounter every now and then, but it should not be the main focus in my opinion, I think that if you want a real combat game there are better options than NMS.
They should crank the bounty on the named Outlaw targets and make those guys super scary. Keep the random attacks as-is (easy). That way you have to actively seek out the extra challenge (casual friendly), and get rewarded in kind.
That can be an idea.
