What To Bring On Test Day

  1. LSAT test day rules are pretty strict. Make sure you're ready beforehand.

  2. NO electronic devices. No Cellphone. No calculator, pager, digital watch, ipod, gameboy. And no cellphone. Definitely no cellphone. Leave your cellphone at home. Seriously.

  3. No scrap paper. Logic games have to be drawn on the page.

  4. Bring an ID. A Passport or Driver's license is best.

  5. A photo. Here's the LSAC guide to photos.

  6. Your admission ticket

  7. You can't wear a hat, or anything on your head, except for religious reasons.

  8. A ziplock bag containing everything you take with you. Here's what you can put in the bag:

  • valid ID;
  • wallet;
  • keys;
  • analog (nondigital) wristwatch; - This $20 Coleman Watch is easy to reset between sections
  • medical or hygiene products;
  • #2 or HB wooden pencils - I like Mirado Pencils
  • a highlighter,
  • erasers - Staedtler Erasers work best
  • pencil sharpener (no mechanical pencils);
  • tissues;
  • and beverage in plastic container or juice box (20 oz./591 ml maximum size) and
  • snack for break only. No aluminum cans permitted.

If it isn't on the list, don't bring it.

These rules are pretty strict. Make sure you take everything you need, and leave behind everything that's forbidden. Since this is really important, you should read the LSAC rules in full. Good practice for law school readings.

My personal preference was to get things ready ahead of time. If you're timing yourself, practice using your watch beforehand, and practice winding it. Bring several pencils so you don't have to worry about breaking and sharpening them.

If you have any point of doubt, double check the guide. If you're still unsure, ask here or call the LSAC.

Note that test day is long, about 4.5 hours. Here's a good LSAT Blog post on how long the LSAT lasts.
