Why isn't there a pinned post of yesterday's TH update?

Possibly because:

  • The OP of the thread editorialized the title to not match the post
  • A Jagex moderator didn't post it
  • The subreddit moderators didn't notice it because it got downvoted to oblivion instantly

I don't really get any of these reasons.

  1. It could easily be reposted with the official title.
  2. I don't see why that's a reason to avoid having a pinned thread for an official update from Jagex. Idk why a Jmod didn't post it, maybe they forgot, maybe they didn't want another lightning rod and neglected to post it, but that doesn't really take away its relevance. Jmods aren't and shouldn't be the arbiters for this sub.
  3. Kinda the same as 1. The mods follow the news as closely as the rest of thr player base does.

J-Mods do not post MTX news in the subreddit because in the past, when we had discussions around Rule 9 and similar topics, users indicated they're not interested to see them.

Right, but it's not pinned and was downvoted.

We typically do not pin MTX announcements.

The post should not have been downvoted; unfortunately, we have no control over misuse of the voting system.

I encourage you to browse not only the /hot page but also /new and /controversial. This way you can access the widest variety of content in a subreddit. You can readily see the post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/controversial/?t=week

They don't pin MTX updates. Reasonable, given that MTX isn't actually content, as much as Jagex insists it is these days.
