Question about hsv2 transmission
I have high HSV2 antibodies, confirmed with 3 positive hsv igg blood tests. Have never done the western blot. I have NEVER had an outbreak. I wouldn't know I had it if I wasn't so thorough and requested a full screening after my last relationship ended.
My question is about the risk of transmission and anti viral. My boyfriend and I regularly have unprotected sex and so far he hasn't gotten it, but recently he asked if we could start using condoms because the risk was giving him anxiety. Which I am 100% fine with, he needs to be comfortable. Would antivirals benefit my situation or lower the risk of transmission to him? My gynecologist told me anti viral are meant for people who's immune system can not handle the virus on its own and to prevent them from having outbreaks, and by adding in anti viral we could potentially be challenging my immune system and put me at risk for outbreaks.
Is this information accurate? Or could daily anti viral be okay for me to take and add and extra layer of protection for my boyfriend?
