Should I ask her out over text?

I'm a 22 M in college and there's this girl I've been kind of been talking to in one of my classes the past 2-3 weeks. I'm pretty sure she is interested in me because I'm the only person she talks to. We never had any deep conversations, only talked about what's going on in the class and school in general but I made her laugh a couple of times. Anyways, today was the last day of class and I meant to ask her out but after class she went to ask the professor a question; so I just left the class and didn't get the chance. I have her number from our group project group chat (or I could text her on the app groupme). I'm not sure if I should ask her out over text because I won't see her again. If I do text her I'm not really sure what I should say because I barely know her and I virtually have zero dating experience.

Edit: I texted her about 9 hours ago and she hasn't responded. Damn at least I tried sort of.
