I was called mom today!

My daughter out of the blue called me mom! She said what about you? What do you want for mothers day? It threw me for a moment then I hugged her. I told her she didn't have to get me anything unless she really wanted to. Without going into much personal life my ex is too busy reliving her youth and I have stepped up in basically both roles. I would do it again if I had too but, it really saddens me that her mom is right there but not in her life much. I am the one my daughter confides in about everything from relationships, problems, female issues. I try to create situations for my daughter and her mom to bond but, I can only do so much! My daughter already has made it clear she is leaving her mom's house as soon as she is 18. To be truthful I am the only one keeping her there because I want to give the opportunity for them to bond as long as I can.By all I've seen and heard from my daughter I think it's a lost cause but, I don't want to admit it for my daughters sake!
