Yes, they do receive gas from these countries, but they don't have to.

Yes, their reserves are at 70 something percent and they announced the intent to fill them.

Polish gas reserves, at 100%, would last from 40 (winter) to 180 days (summer), that is hardly energy “independence”. Polish reserves capacity is 1:5 which means magazines can hold 20% of average yearly gas demand.

Doesn't nord stream 1 already follow this route?

This controversy was actually about Nord Stream 1. The OP incorrectly referred to it as "Nord Stream 2" in the title, but the link is from 2010 and talks about NS1.

I think OP is full of shit and doesnt know what he is taking about.

He is. The analysis was done back then and there is no such problem. NS was always bad for geopolitical reasons exclusively.

Smells like Propaganda.

When you click on the "Answer in wirting" button on the right side, you get:

"the pipeline will be laid in the seabed with a covering of half a metre for about 20 kilometres. In addition, [...] to opt for an alternative track on a length of 12 kilometres."

"both measures above were taken in order to ensure the unrestricted access to the Polish ports after the construction of the pipeline"

In addition:

"However, in 2011, then-prime minister of Poland Donald Tusk, as well as several experts, confirmed that the Nord Stream pipeline does not block the development plans of Świnoujście and Szczecin ports."

Yes, they changed the plans after the intervention as in the "Answer in writing". Had Poland not intervened, they would have built the pipeline in a way that it would block the access.

That's literally just how these things go. When putting in a new line, they'll propose a direct route, and it is up to the landowners to say "wait, that's literally running the line through my living room, so no."

If you dont say no during the comment period, you're legally up shit creek on keeping your living room.

(Ps, I'm being a bit facetious about "through" a living room, but I have seen proposed routes under peoples houses before.)

an article about a thing that after all didn't happen and is over a decade old? smells like divisionpost and whataboutism....

Low-Opening25•

Poland is not energy independent, polish gov is just putting a spin on the news of Russia cutting gas supplies to save face. Poland runs on Russian oil, coal and gas and it will take some time before such independence will be in sight.

7
fucking_retard_guy•

No, we are dependent on Russian oil only. We don't buy coal from Russia. We still buy some gas, but we will cut it off to 0 at the and of year or maybe sooner. It was planned a long time ago to cut it off.

Why do you try to make Germany out to be the enemy all the time? Did they actually build the pipeline to block a Polish LPG terminal? No. The process for designing and permitting a pipeline is horrendous, you don't need to make the process sound nefarious when early designs weren't perfect.
