AITA For showing my husband messages a guy sent me?
When I (F27) was much younger (19) I worked with a guy (B) that I initially got along with quite well. If we'd lived closer we'd probably have hung out outside of work as well. We were close in age, had similar interests, and got on well but there was one difference. He was rich, would always be rich, and I wasn't and never will be. This created situations where I'd have to explain why daily problems couldn't be fixed as simply as he thought because not all of us had access to money the same way he did.
All was well, no weirdness at all until I made the mistake of mentioning that being young and all I wasn't sure where my relationship with my then bf would go. B had a gf as well and he took the statement as a means to talk more intimately. He loved his gf immensely, so he said, but had problems in the bedroom.
It didn't go anywhere other than we knew more of each other than before and we went our separate ways. But a week before he left the company he hammered me out of the blue with messages about wanting to do NSFW things. I was appalled but didn't report him as he was leaving in a week and didn't talk to him.
B is the son of a very wealthy family and I only know him because he went through a phase of not wanting to rely on family money or businesses. He now works for said family, had married that gf, cheated on her, gotten divorced, and is now living happily as a single man.
I know this because B will randomly message me every few months/years from different numbers to try rekindle our 'friendship'. He knows I ended up in a different career, married my then bf and have since had a child and also have no interest in these NSFW things he ALWAYS mentions within five messages. He thinks offering me insane amounts of money will cover for his disgusting desires is enough, because ja know, I'm poor and "he's helping us both out."
His latest attempt was met with look I'm going to show my husband your messages, who already knows all about it, and he thought I was joking because who wouldn't want money. So I told him my husband's thoughts: "Having been sleeping with OP for almost a decade, Chelsea has a better chance of scoring than you do." B likes the football club. I left out the uglier parts as my husband doesn't need to stoop so low for a creep.
B was mad! He couldn't believe his words had been seen by another man, and he was now lowered in my husband's eyes. (As if he wasn't already.) How could I? He couldn't continue this 'friendship' any longer.
I was mentioning this outrageous story to friends and they think showing my husband that I chose him over some man willing to pay money for my time was a low blow that might come across as setting too high of a standard for him and I should have handled it myself.
Edit: My husband has been told and shown these messages every time. I don't engage convo with B long enough to tell him this until this attempt. I usually block him after confirming that it is indeed him.
